1st graders learned how to design a castle using lines

This week 1st graders learned about vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines to design their very own line castle. Each student got a large white paper and a piece of scrap board to dip into a plate of black paint and carefully began to stamp the foundation of the castle connecting horizontal lines, then connected vertical lines for the castle walls. Slowly students began to add shapes and details using only vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines. On their second art day, students played the color game to fill in their castle. The number one rule when playing the color game is the same colors can’t touch.
