Non-Traditional Glazing Techniques for Elementary Art

Non-Traditional Glazing Techniques for Elementary Art

At a back to school teacher workshop Katy art educators explored non-traditional glazing methods to use with their students. Art teachers Kim Auman, Valerie O'Leary, and Kristy Shoaf put on a great class, cramming 5 different ways to get color on your fired clay projects without using a drop of glaze. Math friends, correct me if I am wrong, if you combine those 5 different methods 5 times, that's 25 different techniques, right! My favorite was the bisque clay primed with black tempera which is a great way for metallic powder pigment to pop.
