Draw + Paint a Dreamcatcher

Draw + Paint a Dreamcatcher

Dreamcatchers are sacred handcrafted objects that adorn walls and mirrors, but painting one can be just as beautiful.

Over the summer I taught a short workshop at Multiplicity for kids ages 5-7 on how to draw and paint dreamcatchers. The little artists seemed equally excited with the process as they were with their results.

First we drew a spider web using These 4 Letters. To make it personal, each artist added the same number of feathers as their age. The final step of the sketch was to draw details on their web.

Next, we carefully traced over our pencil line with a fine point Sharpie and erased the bits sticking out under the ink. After a quick snack we added watercolor.

Here are a few inspirational dream catchers I found on the web.
